Product Description:
Standard
croquet set consisting of 6 solid wood, sturdy mallets, 6
hardwood handcarved balls, handcarved wickets, posts stored in
a solid wood carrying frame. Wickets are contained in a "cave
art" decorated leather pouch. Instructions for croquet course
layout also included, though in true "free spirit" Neanderthal
fashion we suggest an "anything goes", freeflowing course.
It's more challenging and personalized when you design your
own course layout.
Customers can choose the wooden wickets, or copper.
Cost: $200/complete set, guaranteed
for life... yours! Our sets are built solid and tough, and
there has never been any broken mallets balls or wickets. Our
lifetime guarantee is for "normal wear". If you fling your
mallet at your cave wall, well, that's another matter. But if
something should break when it shouldn't have, we'll very
gladly fix or replace. Shipping/handling is extra, usually
between $25-$50 depending on locale.
History: It all started when our pal
Mick asked us to make a mallet for a croquet match he was
attending. So Caveman Dave crafted a great, wondrous, burly
mallet. The next day Mick let us know that his mallet blew
everyone outta the park! He said "you really might want to
make full croquet sets". And thus the start of the CRO-MAGNON
CROQUET Co. We've crafted many a sturdy set for many clans who
tell us they've had great hours of fun hosting Woolly Mammoth
barbecues and all-day croquet matches. There've been Nude
Neanderthal Games, Paleolethic Polo matches with racing Saber
Tooth tigers as "ponies"... there's no end to the fun! But
seriously, families who have bought our sets (10 so far), make a
point of stopping by our SATURDAY MARKET booth to tell us the
great good times they have had with family and friends playing
Cro-Magnon Croquet.
As you can see by the photos, our sets are truly unique.
You won't find anything like it in the world of croquet. One
of our slogans is "You can play wussy, or play WILD-- with
Cro-Magnon Croquet"
We're proud of our recycling values.. we forage for materials
in forests surrounding our cave, making good use of downed
trees. We use oak, cherry, maple, yew, madrone, fir, ash and
whatever good, solid woods we can forage and gather. David's
eagle eyes "hunt" and "Gatherer Carol" hauls, with his help.
It's been great to hear from happy clans that these downed
trees are finding new life in many hours of rousing games.
